A Brief Analysis of the Fundamental Properties of Aluminum Profiles

  • Release time: 2026-01-23

Aluminum profiles integrate casting, extrusion, oxidation, electrophoretic coating, spraying, insulation break, and further processing. Their products include aluminum profiles for construction, industry, special shapes, doors and windows, aluminum formwork, curtain walls, kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and decoration, etc. Next, the editor will tell you the basic characteristics of aluminum profiles:

1. Corrosion Resistance: The density of aluminum profiles is only 2.7g/cm³, which is approximately one-third of that of steel, copper or brass (steel: 7.83g/cm³, copper or brass: 8.93g/cm³). In most environmental conditions, including air, water or salt water, petrochemicals and many chemical systems, aluminum can exhibit excellent corrosion resistance.
2. Conductivity: Aluminum profiles are often chosen due to their excellent conductivity. On a basis of the same weight, the conductivity of aluminum is nearly twice that of copper.
3. Thermal Conductivity: The thermal conductivity of aluminum alloys is approximately 50-60% that of copper, which is beneficial for the manufacture of heat exchangers, evaporators, heating appliances, cookware, automotive cylinder heads, radiators, and other components.
4. Non-magnetic: Aluminum profiles are non-magnetic, which is an important characteristic in the electrical and electronic industries. Aluminum profiles cannot spontaneously combust, which is crucial for applications involving handling or contact with flammable or explosive materials.
5. Machinability: The mechanical processing properties of aluminum profiles are extremely good. Among various types of wrought aluminum alloys and cast aluminum alloys, as well as in various states after these alloys are produced, the processing characteristics vary greatly, which requires special machine tools or techniques.
6. Formability: The specific tensile strength, yield strength, ductility and corresponding processing hardening rate control the variation of the deformation.
7. Recyclability: Aluminum has a high degree of recyclability. The properties of recycled aluminum are almost the same as those of the original aluminum.
Aluminum profiles are a type of metal raw material widely used in modern industries, construction, and other fields. The reason for their extensive application scope is mainly due to their superior properties. What are the superior properties of aluminum profiles?
Advantages of aluminum profiles:
Compared with other commonly used metals, aluminum profiles have a lower density and are lighter in weight. Their density is only 2.70 g/cm³, which is one third of that of copper or iron. Therefore, during use, the required load-bearing capacity is completely disregarded.
2. The aluminum profiles undergo cold and hot processing during the manufacturing process, and thus possess excellent corrosion resistance.
3. The aluminum profiles have good ductility and can be processed into lightweight alloys containing various metal elements.
4. Compared with other metal materials, aluminum molds have strong plasticity and high production efficiency, and thus possess significant advantages in production.
5. Aluminum profiles have excellent casting properties and can be processed into various shapes of aluminum profiles.
6. Excellent surface treatment performance, with bright and vivid colors.
7. Chemically stable, non-magnetic, and capable of being reused repeatedly. It is a benign and recyclable metallic material.
8. The coefficient of elasticity is low, and the collision and friction do not generate sparks. Therefore, the performance of the automotive technology is quite good.
9. Excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, which is particularly outstanding in short-distance power transmission.
